HONOR — Joan Virginia Richardson, 82, of Honor, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Aug. 1, 2014. Joan was born April 29, 1932, in Beulah, to the late Derryl T. Rockwell and Hermie G. Rockwell (Forrester).
She married Jerald L. Richardson on Jan. 30, 1952, and they had 62 loving years together. The last 30 years they enjoyed their retirement on Platte Lake in Honor, where Joan enjoyed watching sunsets.
Joan was a wonderful stay-at-home mother for her three children, Doug (Teri) Richardson, Dianne (Cliff) Brunner and David (Lori) Richardson. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Ben Richardson, Lindsey (Edis) Starnes, Nicole Richardson and Austin Brunner.
She was a wonderful seamstress, specializing in hand sewn quilts.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry; her children and grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Derryl L. Rockwell.
The family would like to thank the ICU nurses at Munson Medical Center for their excellent, compassionate care.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at the First Congregational Church U.C.C. in Benzonia, with a luncheon following.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church in Benzonia in Joan Richardson’s name.
