Governor: MBTA storm performance 'unacceptable'

BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker calls the performance of the MBTA during the severe winter weather "unacceptable."

Baker said Monday he was disappointed and frustrated that the T had not been able to maintain even limited service on some rapid transit lines as the latest storm pounded the Boston area.

In one incident Monday, nearly 50 commuters had to be evacuated from a disabled Red Line train in Quincy after being stranded for more than two hours.

Portions of the Red and Orange Lines also shut down completely.

The governor acknowledged that the recent spate of snowfall has been unprecedented and that transit employees have worked hard in an effort to keep the system moving.

Baker said he planned to have a "long conversation" with T management after the weather subsides.
