GROVELAND — Groveland Historical Society will present its third annual Antique Appraisal Roadshow, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in historic Washington Hall, 101 Washington St.

Dan Meader, antique appraiser and director at John McInnis Auctioneers, will discuss each item and provide an approximate valuation. Everyone is welcome.

No admission fee, cost is $5 per item, with a maximum of three items.

Summer teen basketball league forming

HAVERHILL — The Haverhill YMCA is registering players for its free, summer teen basketball league, a seven-week season that will be followed by playoffs. Games start Monday, June 24. Each player will receive a team jersey. Divisions for grades 6 to 8 and grades 9 to 12.

Middle school games are Tuesdays at 6, 7, or 8 p.m. High school games are Mondays at 6, 7, or 8 p.m.

This league is free to join and is funded by a Shannon Grant.

Chick-fil-A fundraiser to benefit mission trip to Cambodia

METHUEN — The Marsh Corner Community Church, located at 317 Pelham Street, is hosting a fundraiser called “Chick-Fil-A Mission Night” on June 24 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event is at the Chick-fil-A in Methuen, 73 Pleasant Valley Street. When you mention the church, 20% of your purchase will go towards money being raised for a mission trip to Cambodia.

Leach Library offers summer fun

LONDONDERRY — Leach Library hosts its summer program with the theme "Universe of Stories" and welcomes Curious George for a visit Tuesday, June 18, Wednesday, June 19, and Thursday, June 20, 11 a.m. to noon. Car seat installation check

METHUEN — Head to Chick-fil-A at 73 Pleasant Valley Street on June 22 to find out if your child's car seat is installed correctly.

The event is sponsored by Align Credit Union and will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

YMCA Gym Stars heading to nationals

HAVERHILL — Members of the Haverhill YMCA's Gym Stars gymnastics team are heading to the YMCA Gynastics Nationals.

Of the 62-member team, 15 of them qualified at a regional meet in Maine on May 11 and 12 to attend the nationals, which will be held June 19-23 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Members of the team last attended a nationals competition two years ago in Savannah, Georgia, where they went up against more than 2,000 other gymnasts from more than 300 YMCAs across the nation and walked away with an array of medals.

Women of NECC Raise Scholarship Money

HAVERHILL — Nearly 100 guests of the Women of Northern Essex Community College attended the 23rd annual June fundraising event held on June 1 at the home of Charles and Ann Lagasse in Newburyport.

The event featured cocktails, a buffet dinner, a silent auction, and a raffle and was catered by The Party Connection. Flowers by Steve, of Bradford, donated floral arrangements.

The Lagasse's nephew Rob Lagasse, who was a star baseball player for Northern Essex, was presented with a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Second Team All-Region XXI, Division III, award, by Dan Blair, NECC athletic director.

The Women of NECC is a volunteer organization dedicated to assisting Northern Essex and its students. The organization generates funds for student scholarships and special projects by conducting a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, including a fall membership tea and a June gala open house event.

Since their founding 23 years ago, the Women have raised more than a half million dollars for the college and awarded $330,000 in scholarships to 410 deserving NECC students.
