ATKINSON — Kimball Library will host storyteller and teacher Sebastian Lockwood in his performance of “Caesar: The Man from Venus.”
The program uses a variety of texts to show how a boy became an important figure in history.
The tale will be woven by Lockwood, who has studied the classics and anthropology at Boston University and Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
The program is sponsored by the Atkinson Historical Society and will take place Aug. 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Benefit softball event on tap in Newton
NEWTON — The second annual Old Man/Woman Softball Game will be played Saturday at Greenie Park.
Proceeds from the event, which is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., benefit A Kids’ Brain Tumor Cure Foundation. The foundation funds research to find more effective, less toxic treatments and a cure for children with brain tumors.
The cost is $20 per player and $2 for non-players.
From 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., there will be a celebration at Kingston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1088 on Route 125 in Kingston. A $5 donation at the door is requested.
There will be a raffle of gifts donated by local businesses. There will also be a silent auction, refreshments, music and an appearance by Elvis impersonator Ricky Andrade.
Yard sale benefits Plaistow parish
PLAISTOW — St. Luke the Evangelist Parish will host an indoor yard sale, with proceeds benefiting the parish.
The yard sale will take place Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be at Holy Angels Church Center, 8 Atkinson Depot Road.
The parish also invites people to rent a table and sell their own items.
Renters can use 5-by-8-foot tables for $50 and must carry out unsold items. No Dumpster service is available.

Murder mystery night set in Windham
WINDHAM — Participants can help solve a murder at Nesmith Library.
Local actors will put on a show and their audience will help to solve the crime committed. The event will be Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Summer potluck slated
WINDHAM — The end of the summer means a potluck at Nesmith Library.
The potluck is a celebration of the end of the adult summer reading program.
Attendees are asked to bring dishes to share and stay for the food, raffles, games and prizes.
The potluck will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 30.
