The UMass Lowell Innovation Hub Haverhill and the Greater Haverhill Arts Association are teaming up to present Pop-up Art at the iHub tonight, Nov. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
This art show will feature six local artists whose work has been on display at the iHub as part of its rotating artist exhibit. Also participating in the event are Creative Haverhill, Cogswell Artspace, the Switchboard and the Greater Haverhill Arts Association.
The iHub and the GHAA collaborated at the start of this year to create an artist showcase at the iHub featuring the work of the association's members. Over the course of the year, a variety of artwork, including watercolors, portraits and digital art, in all styles and mediums, has been displayed.
The artists exhibiting in tonight's pop-up show are:
— Michael Guarino of Sandown, who prefers to work from life and enjoys drawing and painting the whole range of subject matter in a realistic style.
— Susan Kneeland of Plaistow, who is conversant in many mediums and paints a variety of surprising subjects.
— James McCarthy of Haverhill, who focuses on digital art, which can evolve as he manipulates line, shape, color and image.
— Nicole McLean of Haverhill, who specializes in watercolor; her subject matter is both representative and imaginative.
— Maria Nemchuk of North Andover, who paints a wide variety of subjects (though figurative work is her preference) and prefers working from life.
— Debbie Shirley of Boxford, who works in acrylic, painting familiar evocative subjects, often with an unusual viewpoint.
Tonight's celebration of art is open free to the public. Refreshments will be provided. For more information on the rotating exhibit space, email the Greater Haverhill Arts Association at email@example.com.
