MIDDLETON — SolAmor Hospice, serving northeast Massachusetts, will have training courses for those interested in becoming a Hospice volunteer.

The next sessions are scheduled for Jan. 23 and 30 and Feb. 6. Additional sessions will be offered in March and May. Training is held at the SolAmor Hospice Office, 161 S. Main St.

"Hospice volunteers play an indispensable role with patients who have life-threatening illnesses, providing companionship, support, errands, and respite for families,'' said Marc Lisle, chaplain and volunteer coordinator. "Volunteers become part of a team effort, which includes physicians, nurses, social workers, clergy and other professionals.''

People who embrace the caring philosophy when assisting people with life-threatening illness are encouraged to explore becoming a hospice volunteer. Office volunteers are also needed and individualized training sessions can be scheduled.

The training courses are offered at no cost to participants. Class size is limited and pre-registration is necessary by contacting Lisle at 978-777-8222 or by e-mail at marc.lisle@solamorhospice.com.
