LAWRENCE — Thieves crawled under two box trucks parked at a Canal Street business and cut and removed their exhaust systems, police said.
Greg Miller, owner of All Brands New England at 250 Canal St., told Officer Michael Colantuoni the two trucks, a 2008 GMC and a 2009 GMC, were intact as of 4 p.m. Sunday.
He told police he discovered the theft when the trucks were moved about 6:40 a.m. Monday and sounded louder than normal.
When Miller checked, he found the vehicle-length exhaust systems had been cut from both trucks.
He told Colantuoni he was given an estimate of $10,000 to repair both trucks, and he believes both exhaust systems will be sold for scrap metal.
The case was forwarded to the detective division.
