ANDOVER — A well-known Andover firefighter was found dead in the Ward Reservation off Prospect Road yesterday morning.
The body of Michael Dalton, 33, of 19 Dufton Road, was discovered around 10:45 a.m. by a couple walking their dog in a section of the 700-acre property managed by the Trustees of Reservations.
Stephen O'Connell, spokesman for the Essex district attorney's office, said foul play is not suspected.
Officers shut down Prospect Road at Route 125. Fire Chief Michael Mansfield refused to comment yesterday and police would not release further information.
Dalton was hired as a firefighter in June 2004 and was known for organizing the annual Firefighters Holiday Parade.
O'Connell said Dalton's death is under investigation by Andover and state police.
