LONDONDERRY — Six candidates are running for two three-year seats on the School Board.

The candidates are incumbent Steve Young, Joseph Caputo, Leitha Reilly, Melanie Tamburello, Michael Boyle and Glenn Douglas. Board member Ronald Campo is not seeking re-election.

The six candidates outlined their views at a public forum Feb. 18, saying they wanted to give back to the school district that educated their children.

One key issue at the forum was whether Londonderry should expand its school year or lengthen the school day to improve education.

Most of the candidates said more instructional time is needed — as long as it doesn't burden the school budget.

The candidates also were asked if they thought more school resource officers were needed. Each said having one resource officer was sufficient.

Boyle and Douglas did not respond to the newspaper's questionnaire.
