METHUEN — It has been a tradition all over the country for decades, but police said high school graduates need to think twice about breaking the law when pulling senior pranks.
Police Chief Joseph Solomon said custodians at Methuen High School yesterday morning found trash strewn about the hallways in the north section of the building, which is in use for the rest of this school year.
“Everyone thinks its a big joke to do these things, but they don’t understand the ramifications of committing a crime,” Solomon said.
Nothing was damaged, he and High School Principal James Giuca said. Solomon said he believed it was a senior prank. Officials do not know who did it and are still investigating, but anyone caught could be charged with breaking and entering a building at night.
Giuca said the mess did not cause any disruption. “This one was mild compared to what some schools (see) ... some crackers, beads, and plastic cups on the floors, moved desks and chairs in several rooms,” Giuca wrote in an email to The Eagle-Tribune. “Ho hum.”
“We haven’t had a prank in the four years I have been here,” he added.
He said it was cleaned up by 7 a.m.
