Eagle-Tribune All-Star Tyler Nelson has continued his mastery on the basketball court this summer, scoring 16 points in Boston Athletic Basketball Club's (BABC) win over Charlotte at the 10th Grade AAU National Championship, 61-55, in overtime, at Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Nelson, who will be a junior at Central Catholic in the fall, scored eight of his 16 points in the overtime.
"It's unbelieveable," said Nelson. "We won a national championship. It still hasn't sunk in."
Nelson was joined by his teammate at Central, junior-to-be Nick Cambio, who had six points in the title game. Cambio was noted for his defense of Charlotte's star 6-foot-7 forward.
Cambio was instrumental in BABC's win the quarterfinals when he scored four points at the end of the game and pulled down an offensive rebound.
BABC ended up going 9-0 in the tournament and has now won three straight 10th Grade national titles.
