MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — The idea of putting a toll booth near the $175 million airport access road to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport isn't going over well with either the airport or the New Hampshire city.
The New Hampshire Union leader says Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas plans to lobby Gov. John Lynch this week in opposition to the proposal. Gatsas said he'll also contact federal officials if needed to prevent any movement of the Bedford toll plaza on the Everett Turnpike.
State transportation officials have acknowledged they're studying the idea of relocating the Bedford toll booths to prevent the loss of up to $6 million a year when the airport access road opens in 2012. Current plans would allow F.E. Everett motorists using the airport access road to skirt the Bedford toll plaza and avoid paying a $1 toll.
