METHUEN — A deposit bag containing $2,933 in cash was taken from the manager's office at the Burger King restaurant on Haverhill Street, police said.

The manager discovered the bag missing when reporting for work at the restaurant at 248 Haverhill St., about 8 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The money in the bag represented the receipts from Saturday, police said.

The restaurant is open 24 hours a day and police are reviewing security video to see if it shows who took the bag.

There were no signs of forced entry into the office, police said.

The theft was reported at 8:41 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Generator stolen from Haverhill garage

HAVERHILL — Thieves broke the padlock off a garage on Margin Street and stole a Coleman 6,000 watt generator, police aid.

Josue Colon, 169 River St., told police he rents the garage at 342-344 River St., and the garage itself sits on Margin Street.

He told police he last saw the generator when he was putting a car in the garage on Dec. 19, and when he returned to the garage on Dec. 20, he discovered the padlock had been broken off and the generator missing.

No other property was taken, Colon told police.

The burglary was reported Sunday at 1:35 p.m., police said.
