LAWRENCE — Police have confirmed that Mark Trussell, 35, who was shot early Sunday morning in the Stadium Projects, has died becoming the fourth murder victim in the city this month.

Trussell was shot in the back of the head around 3 a.m. near West Dalton Street. Police said he was not the intended target in the shooting but caught in the crossfire.

He was Medflighted to a Boston hospital for treatment.

The shooting remains under investigation by detectives. No charges have been filed in connection with his murder, police said.

An arraignment is scheduled Friday in another murder police investigated this month.

Jose Picart, 56, of 233 Prospect St., is charged with repeatedly stabbing a 48-year-old man in the head with a screwdriver last Thursday night on Myrtle St.

Picart was initially charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. After the victim died over the weekend, a warrant was sought for murder. He is scheduled for arraignment today in Lawrence District Court.

Also, a double murder in a South Lawrence apartment complex also remains under investigation.

Just after midnight on Sunday, Aug. 10, two men were shot to death in an apartment at 2 Inman St.

But men were murdered in unit 11. Their names have not been released yet by authorities.
