LAWRENCE — A clerk at Tedeschi Food store at 390 S. Union St. was held up at knifepoint around 4:15 a.m. Sunday, but the robber only got away with $30 to $60 in cash, a cell phone and some cigarettes.

The clerk told police he was working alone at the time of the robbery and was in the rear of the store when he was confronted by a male with a dark-hooded sweatshirt holding a knife.

The clerk told police the suspect had his hood up and his face covered.

The clerk was forced to go to the checkout counter where he observed a second male behind the counter trying to open the cash register.

The second male also had a dark hoodie pulled up so his face was covered, and he was armed with brass knuckles.

The clerk was forced to open the case register and empty his pockets. While he was emptying his pockets, he was struck twice by the man with the brass knuckles. He reported that the robbers took his Huwai Metro PCS cell phone, his wallet, a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
