SALEM — Two 19-year-old Lawrence men face felony charges of unarmed robbery after they allegedly used force in an attempt to steal a $45 pair of pants.

Randy Veraz and Alexander Arias were arrested Wednesday evening in the parking lot at the Mall at Rockingham Park.

A loss prevention officer tried to stop three men trying to shoplift in Macy's, police Capt. Shawn Patten said. Police were called to the mall after the trio struggled with mall security.

Police and mall security officers found the three men in the parking lot and arrested Veraz, Arias and Andres Ruiz, 19, also of Lawrence. Ruiz was charged with being an accomplice to theft.

The three men were each held on $620 cash bail pending their arraignment in Salem District Court.

Salem Fire Rescue also responded to the scene, Patten said. A mall loss prevention officer suffered minor injuries to her hand in the scuffle.

The pants were recovered.
