WINDHAM — Two people were injured, including one who had to be extricated, when two cars collided tonight on Rockingham Road.

The accident occurred about 8 p.m. when a beige Chevrolet Malibu and a red Chevrolet Impala crashed near 60 Rockingham Road.

The street was closed near Roulston and Jones roads as rescue personnel tended to the two unidentified drivers, a young woman in Malibu and a man in the Impala.

Although both vehicles sustained heavy damage, Windham Fire Chief Tom McPherson said the victims' injuries were minor.

"The injuries didn't appear life-threatening or serious," he said. The road was closed while rescuers responded to the accident. The roof of the Malibu had to be removed to assist the injured young woman.
