DERRY — A Lowell woman faces four charges after she crashed her car into a chain-link fence late Sunday night.
Police said Jessica Laroe, 30, was driving a Subaru Legacy more than 55 mph on East Broadway just past 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
An officer tried to stop her, Capt. Vern Thomas said, but Laroe continued on, taking “evasive turns” through a neighborhood. She failed to negotiate a turn on Mount Pleasant Street, he said, and crashed into a fence at the athletic fields behind Gilbert H. Hood Middle School. Still, Thomas said, Laroe continued to drive, finally stopping about 250 yards from the fence.
Laroe sustained minor facial injuries as a result. She was charged with DWI, second offense; driving after revocation, habitual offender; and disobeying a police officer. Police later learned the Subaru had been reported stolen from Lowell and Laroe also was charged with receiving stolen property.
She was arraigned yesterday in 10th Circuit Court in Derry. Her bail was set at $5,000 cash or surety.
Laroe remained in the county jail yesterday evening.
