Meet the candidates in Andover elections

ANDOVER — Greater Andover Indivisible invites the public to a “Meet the Candidates” forum. Candidates in the March 2019 election for the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee are coming to make a case for their candidacy.

Several current members of the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee will also be available, and there will be time for mingling and one-on-one conversations with the candidates. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Feb. 26 at Christ Church, 25 Central St., Andover. 

Olympian offers advice to local gymnasts

NORTH ANDOVER — The 5th annual Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Legends Gymnastics was held February 9-10 at North Andover High School. World Champion and 2008 Olympian Chellsie Memmel was in attendance to offer advice and support for the hundreds of gymnasts competing over the duration of the weekend. 

Methuen Arlington Neighborhood to host fundraiser

METHUEN — Methuen City Councilor Jessica Finocchiaro is hosting a fundraiser for the Methuen Arlington Neighborhood Inc. at 5:30 p.m., March 7, at the VFW on 26 River St., Methuen.

There will be live music, pasta and a salad, and a cash bar. 

Methuen Arlington Neighborhood Inc. is an organization aimed at enhancing the quality of life for low and moderate income residents of the Arlington Neighborhood.

Scholarship available for North Andover horticulturists

NORTH ANDOVER — A $1,500 scholarship is being offered to students intending to major in horticulture, botany, agriculture, landscape design, environmental studies, forestry, conservation or a closely related field.

The scholarship is to help further the North Andover Garden Club’s mission to advance the science of horticulture, the conservation of natural resources, and the development of civic beautification.

Graduating high school seniors who reside in North Andover and are currently attending North Andover High School, a regional vocational/technical school or a private school are encouraged to apply. Children and grandchildren of a Garden Club member are also eligible. The scholarship is given in honor of longtime club member Richard J. Kulpinski (1938-2017) for his many contributions to the club and community.

Fundraiser for local woman with breast cancer set for May 11

Workshop your resume

LAWRENCE — Visit the Lawrence Public Library to receive the individualized care needed to have a proper resume and increase chances of getting a job. Bring in an existing resume or start from scratch.

The event is coordinated by Progress Clothing, which provides professional clothing to men and women seeking jobs in preparation for their interviews and the workweek, as well as financial workshops.

The event is walk-in from 10 am to 12 p.m., in the 2nd floor of the Lawrence Public Library, at 51 Lawrence St.
