NORTH ANDOVER — Students in the Life Skills program at North Andover Middle School are teaming up with the MSPCA at Nevins Farm to sponsor a donation drive for the shelter.

MSPCA at Nevins Farm is an open admissions, non-profit organization located in Methuen. Each year, thousands of animals arrive at Nevins Farm for shelter and medical care. They are the only shelter in the area that offers barn animal surrender and adoptions as well as hosting domestic animals.

The MSPCA not only cares for animals, it offers educational programs for children and adults. Mrs. DeLisle’s students have had the opportunity to attend a program led by Jennifer Taris, a volunteer at the MSPCA. This summer, NAMS students who attend Adventures in Science  sponsored through North Andover Community Programs, will also have an opportunity to attend a program at MSPCA at Nevins Farm.

The donation drive is the students’ way of giving back. To accomplish their goal, members of the NAMS Student Leadership program are teaming up with Mrs. DeLisle’s students to offer free coffee to all teachers at the weekly Hallway Cafe. All proceeds will be donated to MSPCA at Nevins Farm. The students have also placed collection boxes in each homeroom so all students will have an opportunity to participate in the donation drive.

As a non-profit organization, the MSPCA resources are limited when it comes to care for expensive and time consuming medical cases. The following funds have been developed by the MSPCA to meet the needs of the many animals who need help; Angels for Animals Fund mspca.org/animal_care/angels-for-animals-fund/ and Ashton’s Hope Fund mspca.org/animal_care/ashtons-hope-fund/.
