ANDOVER — A 16-year-old boy from Tewksbury has died following a one-car crash on Route 93 Saturday night, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Based upon department policy, the juvenile’s identity is being withheld.

According to a press release, at about 5 p.m. Saturday police responded to a single-car rollover. A 2018 Mitsubishi SUV was traveling north on Route 93 when the driver lost control, went off the right side of the highway, rolled over and crashed into a sign post, police said.

The driver was taken to Lawrence General Hospital and later transferred to Lahey Hospital in Burlington due to the seriousness of his injuries, police said. He was the only person in the car.

Police announced his death Sunday afternoon.

The crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
