METHUEN — A Lowell woman was killed when her car hit a house on Riverside Drive early Friday morning, police said.

Police said in a release that at 2:36 a.m., local police, firefighters and other rescue workers responded to Riverside Drive for a report of a car crashing into a home.

When they arrived, rescue workers treated the driver and officers began to investigate.

Police said the initial investigation showed that a 2010 Honda sedan was traveling west on Riverside Drive. For an unknown reason, the Honda crossed the center line and crashed into a home at 1058 Riverside Drive.
