LAWRENCE — A man living in a South Union Street rooming house shot himself in one of his lower legs on Thursday, police said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, said Police Chief Roy Vasque.
Vasque said the firearm used was recovered by officers at 77 South Union St., which is a rooming house.
A search warrant is now being executed at the rooming house, Vasque said.
Basque said two witnesses to the shooting were identified and are now at the police station.
An investigation is continuing and the man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
