METHUEN — An unidentified male died of stab wounds last night, according to Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's Office and Methuen police.

As of midnight, police still had not identified the victim whose body was found behind 150 Center St. shortly after 7 p.m., according to Stephen O'Connell, a spokesman for the district attorney.

The victim, who had suffered stab wounds, was rushed to Lawrence General Hospital, where he died late last night following emergency surgery as detectives waited to interview him.

Methuen police Lt. Greg Gallant said State Police received a 911 call about the incident at 7:06 and referred it to Methuen police. When officers arrived, they found the victim with stab wounds.

Several potential witnesses from Center Street were being interviewed at the Police Station last night.

Police Chief Katherine Lavigne said police were not releasing any further details about the murder.
