LAWRENCE — Jose Colon Jr. was the father of a young girl and a furniture deliveryman who enjoyed working on cars and going to the track in his spare time, family members said.
Colon, 23, was identified by authorities as the man killed in an early-morning shooting Saturday.
Family members said Colon was from Lawrence, having attended both Lawrence High and Greater Lawrence Technical School. He most recently lived at 4 Annette St., Methuen, said his mother, Betsy Cruz of Lawrence.
He was the son of Jose Colon Sr. of Lawrence and was part of a blended family that included seven siblings. Also, he was the father of Enayalee, who will turn 3 this week, she said.
Cruz said her son was well loved and enjoyed going out with friends.

Colon was allegedly shot before 4 a.m. Saturday morning. Police responded to a report of a large crowd gathered near Sam's Food Store at 389 Broadway.
Officers arrived and dispersed the crowd but found no immediate evidence of a shooting. Later, when a man arrived at Lawrence General Hospital with gunshot wounds, police were again notified and began an investigation.
Another man arrived at LGH with less severe gunshot wounds and was treated and released. Authorities have yet to identify that man.
No arrests have been made in the case, which remains under investigation by Lawrence police and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's office.
