HOLLIS, N.H. — Windham made its first tournament win an unforgettable one as the No. 16 Jaguars scored all their runs in the final two innings and stunned top-seed and unbeaten Hollis-Brookline 7-2 in the first round of the Division 2 tournament.
Singles by Cailyn Costa, Makenzie Magee and Emily Comtois set the table for Ashley Adamson's RBI single to tie the game followed by Haley Psareas' two-run double. The Cavaliers scored another run in the home half of the sixth on a fielders choice.
The Jaguars struck for four more runs in the top of the seventh on five hits. Comtois got her third hit of the day when she singled to left for two runs and two batters later Adamson doubled the final two runs home.
Comtois had three hits and two RBIs, Magee had two hits and three RBIs and Adamson had two hits and two RBIs for the Jaguars. Sophomore Rachel Vafides earned the win.
Windham, a second-year varsity program, improved to 8-10 while the hosts, who were Division 2 runner-ups last spring, dropped to 17-1.
In the regular season matchup, Hollis-Brookline pummelled the Jaguars 18-0 on May 2.
The Jaguars will be at No. 8 Souhegan Saturday for a quarterfinal matchup. Souhegan won a wild regular-season matchup 19-17.
