Red Sox Stars: After the loss, it was announced Jon Lester (2.73 ERA) made the All-Star squad for the third time in his career. Koji Uehara (1.30 ERA, 18 of 19 in saves) will be the first to replace one of the All-Star starting pitchers scheduled to start this Sunday.

The Result: Baltimore’s David Lough tripled to begin the 12th inning and then scored on J.J. Hardy’s single.

Peavy’s Line: Sox starter Jake Peavy (4.64 ERA) went 6.0 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out three.

Red Sox Rally: The Red Sox scored five runs in the seventh to tie it. David Ross homered and Xander Bogaerts, Daniel Nava, David Ortiz and Mike Napoli stroked RBI singles.

Jackie Heating Up: Jackie Bradley Jr. (2 for 4) worked an 11-pitch walk for his longest career plate appearance. He also made a jumping catch and has a hit in 10 of his past 13 games.

Ortiz’s Milestone: David Ortiz went 4 for 5, including stroking the 1,708 hit of his Sox career to pass Harry Hooper for seventh most hits in club history.

Today’s Probables: Boston Red Sox RHP Clay Buchholz (3-4, 6.22) faces Chicago White Sox RHP Scott Carroll (2-5, 5.05), 7:10 p.m. on NESN.
