Lowell’s Jonathan Diaz doubled to right field to drive in Nick Decker in the top of the 10th inning, and Ryan Fernandez set Connecticut down in order in the bottom of the inning to lock up the Spinners’ 6-5 victory on Sunday.
Kervin Suarez tripled home a run and Luke Bandy drove home a run with a bunt single in the eighth to send the game into extra innings. Fernandez earned the win, working 2.1 of shutout relief.
The Spinners are off Monday before returning to Lowell to face Tri-City on Tuesday (7 p.m.)
Warmouth stars, but Fisher Cats fall
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Logan Warmoth and Chad Spanberger each knocked in a run for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, but the Trenton Thunder pulled away late for a 5-2 win.
Warmoth, the 22nd pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, went 3 for 9 with two RBIs in the series. Trenton’s Mandy Alvarez homered in the second and broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth with an RBI double.
The Fisher Cats put two men on in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs, but closer Brooks Kriske induced a flyout to end the ballgame.
The Fisher Cats open an 11-game road trip in Portland on Monday night at 7 p.m..
